Ultimate Chocolate Cream Pie

Ultimate Chocolate Cream Pie
Ingredients:
For the Pie Crust:

1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs (about 10-12 whole graham crackers, crushed)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
For the Chocolate Custard Filling:

1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 3/4 cups whole milk
4 large egg yolks
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Whipped Cream Topping:

1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Garnish:

Shaved chocolate or chocolate shavings
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Pie Crust:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated and the mixture resembles wet sand.
Press the mixture evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish to form the crust.
Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and let it cool completely.
2. Make the Chocolate Custard Filling:

In a medium saucepan, whisk together the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.
Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.
Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture begins to thicken and comes to a gentle boil.
In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Gradually add about 1/2 cup of the hot chocolate mixture to the egg yolks, whisking constantly to temper them.
Return the egg yolk mixture to the saucepan, whisking continuously.
Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the custard is thick and smooth.
Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
3. Assemble the Pie:
