The Most Delicious Candied Yams
Ingredients:

4 large yams or sweet potatoes (about 4-5 cups sliced)
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup pure maple syrup or honey
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional, for topping)
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions:

Prepare the Yams:

Peel the yams or sweet potatoes and cut them into 1/2-inch thick slices.
Cook the Yams:

Place the yam slices in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 10 minutes, or until just tender. Drain and set aside.
Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare the Syrup Mixture:

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the brown sugar, maple syrup (or honey), cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until the mixture is smooth and the sugar is fully dissolved.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Assemble the Dish:

Arrange the cooked yam slices in a single layer in a 9×13-inch baking dish or other large oven-safe dish.
Pour the syrup mixture evenly over the yams, making sure they are well coated.
