Chocolate Custard

Cook the Custard
Continue to cook the custard over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it becomes thick and coats the back of a spoon, about 3-5 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the chopped dark chocolate and vanilla extract until the chocolate is completely melted and the custard is smooth.

Chill the Custard
Pour the custard into individual serving glasses or bowls. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the custard to prevent a skin from forming.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the custard is well chilled and set.

Serve
Before serving, top each custard with a dollop of whipped cream, a sprinkle of chopped nuts, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
