Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt.
Place two donut halves, cut side down, in the skillet. Top each with a slice of cheddar cheese.
Place the remaining donut halves on top of the cheese, cut side up.
Cook until the cheese starts to melt and the donut is golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Carefully flip and cook the other side until the cheese is fully melted and the donut is golden brown, about another 2-3 minutes.
