Easy Homemade Pretzels
Ingredients:

For the Dough:

1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F or 45°C)
1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
For Boiling:

10 cups water
2/3 cup baking soda
For Topping:

Coarse sea salt (for sprinkling)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions:

Prepare the Dough:

Activate Yeast:

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Mix Dough:

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and melted butter. Stir until a dough forms.
Knead Dough:

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add a bit more flour if the dough is too sticky.
Let Dough Rise:

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Shape the Pretzels:

Preheat Oven:

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Prepare Boiling Solution:

In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and 2/3 cup of baking soda to a boil.
Shape Pretzels:

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope, about 18 inches long. Shape each rope into a U shape, then cross the ends over each other to form a pretzel shape. Press the ends gently to seal.
