Ingredients:
For the Apple Filling:

6-7 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice (optional)
1/4 cup all-purpose flour or cornstarch
1/4 cup water
For the Biscuit Topping:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
3/4 cup milk (whole or 2%)
1 large egg
1 tablespoon milk (for brushing)
1 tablespoon sugar (for sprinkling, optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Apple Filling:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and flour or cornstarch. Mix until the apples are well coated.
Transfer the apple mixture to a 9×13-inch baking dish and pour the water over the top.
2. Make the Biscuit Topping:
