Ingredients:

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (or pizza dough)
1 package (14 oz) cocktail sausages or mini hot dogs
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for added flavor)
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard or honey mustard (optional, for brushing)
1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
1 tablespoon poppy seeds or sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven:
Set Temperature:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare Baking Sheet:

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
2. Prepare Dough:
Unroll Dough:

If using crescent roll dough, unroll it on a clean surface. Press the perforations together to form a single sheet. If using pizza dough, roll it out into a rectangle.
Cut Dough:

Cut the dough into small strips, about 1/2 inch wide and 2 inches long.
3. Assemble Pigs in a Blanket:
Add Cheese (Optional):

If using cheese, sprinkle a small amount of shredded cheddar cheese on each strip of dough.
Wrap Sausages:

Place a cocktail sausage at one end of each dough strip and roll it up, wrapping the dough around the sausage. Pinch the ends to seal.
4. Prepare for Baking:
Brush with Egg Wash (Optional):

For a golden finish, whisk the egg and brush it over the wrapped sausages. This step is optional but adds a nice sheen.
Add Seeds (Optional):

Sprinkle poppy seeds or sesame seeds on top if desired.
Season:

Optionally, you can season with freshly ground black pepper for a bit of extra flavor.
