Place the garlic cloves in the clean glass jar. If using, add the whole black peppercorns, mustard seeds, bay leaf, and red pepper flakes to the jar.
Add the Brine:
Pour the warm brine over the garlic cloves in the jar, making sure the garlic is fully submerged. Leave about 1/2 inch of headspace at the top of the jar.
Seal and Store:
Wipe the rim of the jar with a clean cloth to remove any residue. Seal the jar tightly with the lid.
Pickling Process:
Allow the jar to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate the pickled garlic.
Wait and Enjoy:
Let the garlic pickle for at least 1-2 weeks before using. The flavors will develop over time, and the garlic will become tangy and flavorful.
Pickled garlic can be used in a variety of dishes, as a crunchy snack, or as a flavorful addition to salads and sandwiches. Enjoy your homemade pickled garlic!
