Candied Bacon Rice Krispie Treats
Ingredients:
For the Candied Bacon:
6 slices of bacon
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional, for extra flavor)
For the Rice Krispie Treats:
4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 package (10 oz) mini marshmallows (or about 4 cups of regular marshmallows)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Candied Bacon:
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
Coat Bacon:
Place the bacon slices on the baking sheet. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over each slice. Drizzle with maple syrup if using.
Bake Bacon:
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack.
Chop Bacon:
Once the bacon is cool and crispy, chop it into small pieces.
2. Make the Rice Krispie Treats:
Melt Butter and Marshmallows:
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
Add Vanilla Extract:
Stir in the vanilla extract.
Mix in Cereal:
Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture. Stir gently until well combined and the cereal is evenly coated.
